Calendar Reminders

Curriculum Day

Just a reminder that Friday 9th June is a Curriculum Day. Students are not required at school, however teachers will be working onsite for the day.

Kings Birthday Holiday

Monday 12th June is a public holiday for the King’s Birthday so there is no school on that day.

Semester One—Junior School Showcase

Our Semester One Junior School Showcase will be held on Wednesday 14th June starting promptly at 6.00pm and concluding at 7.00pm.

The classes involved in this performance are Foundation F, Foundation Z, Year 1N, Year 1/2B, Year 2H, Year 2I, Year 3M and Year 3VH.

Entrance to see the performance is by a gold coin donation for each audience member. The theme is ‘Tropical Beach Holiday’. The students have been very busy preparing for this exciting event and costumes are being organised by staff and parents.

Please note the date and time in your diary if you haven’t already and we look forward to seeing you on the night.

Parent Information Evening—Reminder

Earlier in the term we had a fantastic Prep Information evening led by our current Prep team. It was lovely to see so many new and familiar faces in the audience and it has been great hosting numerous school tours as well as receiving plenty of new enrolments for Prep in 2024.

The evening was so informative that we are going to be running the same evening again for those prospective families who may have missed it. The next 2024 Prep information evening will be held on the 31st of May at 6.00pm. Please share our flyer (attached) with anyone within our school zone who may be looking for a prep placement in 2024.

Enrolments for 2024—Reminder

Thank you to all the families who have already enrolled their child in Prep at WNPS for 2024. There are some changes to the process this year so please see our website for further details and contact the general office for enrolment forms or if you have any questions. Our Prep Transition program will commence in Term 3 and continue through until the end of the year. We expect to have finalised our Prep teaching team by the end of Term 2.

COVID/Unwell—Reminder

COVID seems to have crept back within our community once again with several staff and students already affected. We remind families to monitor students for any COVID symptoms, practise good hand hygiene, wear masks if needed and undertake RATs if symptoms are evident. In addition to COVID, we are seeing many colds and bugs and remind families that if students are unwell then rest at home is the best cure.

As many of you will be aware, there are significant challenges in engaging CRTs when staff are absent. Relief teaching agencies are regularly notifying us up to a week in advance that there are no relief teachers available for the upcoming weeks. We are very appreciative to our local CRTs as well as our school tutors for their flexibility in covering classes when staff have been absent.

School On Time

Students arriving at school on time to start the school day is very important. Please ensure your child/ren arrive at school five to ten minutes before the first warning bell rings at 8.57am and then the 9.00am bell. Arriving after this time, even if it is only a few minutes is very disruptive to your child’s class.

Have a wonderful weekend and week ahead.

JSC Online Leadership Webinar

Hello, we are Pippa Hatton and Lucinda Rogers, two of Williamstown North Primary School JSC representatives and we are here to inform you about the leadership webinar we had on Monday the 22nd of May

It was an online interactive leadership webinar with one of the counsellors from kids helpline, a service for young people aged between 5 - 25 to call anytime, for any reason.

For some families, it can help to talk to your parents about what's going on for you. They understand not everybody is comfortable telling their parents about everything.

We all had a lot of fun discussing who/what leaders are, how we can become better leaders, different types of leaders (especially quiet leaders) . We also played some leadership based games to improve our leadership skills, for example teamwork games like charades, but in groups. We were asked questions about leadership and we shared our ideas, opinions and thoughts about leadership. We learnt a lot!!

We hope that all JSC Reps had a great time with this experience!

Remember, if you are experiencing any problems, kids helpline is a free service! Call: 1800 55 1800
